The Holy Cross Club of Chicago was organized to bring friends and alumni of the college together. We want to make this the finest college club in the city and appreciate any support or help you can offer. While we are a relatively small club right now, our numbers are growing everyday in large part to people like you who are successfully spreading the word. We look forward to any comments or questions you may have.
Presidents Bio...
Van Giles arrived at Holy Cross College in the Fall of 1998. A newcomer to the Midwest, the light and space of Indiana were a breath of fresh air for the New York City native. "I was kind of a joke around my new friends because I had never driven a car or been to a football tailgate."
Before his first year was complete, Giles found himself holding a post with the student government; was a featured writer for the Observer and the Holy Cross student newsletter; was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, as well as an avid participant in the inter-hall sports leagues. "I would never have been able to transfer to a four year school without the tools, individual attention, and work ethic that I gained at Holy Cross. The teachers, administrators and staff went out of their way to help me succeed. The school changed my life, and my best friends remain the ones I met living in Basil Hall."
After graduating from the University of Notre Dame with a B.A. in American
Studies and a concentration in Journalism, Giles took a position teaching
English in Japan with the Nova Intercultural Network. Upon returning from
overseas, he moved to Chicago and now works as an Account Manager for
Lake Effect Communications, LLC, located in the downtown Loop area.

Originally from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, I arrived in South Bend in 2001. While at Holy Cross, I was on the Residence Hall Council, Saint Mary's Board of Governance, and served as Student Body President. After graduating from Holy Cross in 2002, I ventured next door to Saint Mary's where I graduated in May 2005 with my Bachelors of Business Administration with Marketing, Management, and International Business concentrations. After graduation, I moved to Chicago and began working in development for the University of Chicago Medical Center. In my second year at the University, we are finishing up a $1.2 billion dollar campaign and are preparing to conquer our next goal of $2.1B. I also currently serve on the Alumni Board of Directors at Holy Cross.
I look forward to meeting many of you at the networking activities and social outings we will plan throughout the year. Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions, comments, or suggestions about the Club. I invite you to participate in any way that you can and hope that the HCC Club of Chicago will serve as a way for us to assemble old friends and start new traditions.
